Founder's Series: Yenny Toone - Building a Titan Network for Black Executive Women
This week, we're spotlighting Yenny Toone, the driving force behind the Titan Executive Network, a groundbreaking initiative launched in 2024 to create a dedicated space for Black executive women. Yenny's journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment to leadership, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and her passion for empowering others.
With over 20 years of experience leading organization-wide operations, driving growth, and championing DEI, Yenny brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as founder. Her career has been marked by a consistent dedication to fostering employee engagement, program administration, and executive leadership. This dedication was recognized with the prestigious Janice Hennessy Dilenschneider Leadership Award, a testament to her outstanding contributions.
Yenny's educational background, a Master of Social Work from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Mercy College, provides a strong foundation in understanding human behavior and social dynamics. This understanding informs her empathetic and compassionate leadership style.
Currently serving as Vice President at Family Centers Inc. in Greenwich, CT, Yenny acts as a strategic thought partner to the CEO, Chief Program Officer, and executive staff. Her contributions span organization-wide initiatives, fundraising, board engagement, and employee retention. She plays a crucial role in leading a non-profit organization that provides vital health, mental health, social service, and education programs.
Beyond her role at Family Centers, Yenny is a Real Estate Entrepreneur and a Leadership Development Coach at Five Frogs Inc. in Hartford, CT. Through personalized coaching and mentorship, she empowers emerging leaders to unlock their potential and achieve their professional goals.
A key accomplishment in Yenny's career has been leading the organization's first Race, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) committee. Spearheading the DEI initiative, she guided the team in creating agency-wide strategic planning goals focused on DEI. This work involved facilitating collaboration between the Board of Directors and staff committees, using a DEI and REDI lens to drive meaningful change and strategic planning, ultimately influencing policy and practice changes to foster a more inclusive and equitable environment.
Her program management expertise is equally impressive, with experience overseeing multi-program operations, staff, and initiatives. She is adept at managing multi-million dollar programmatic budgets, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements, and participating in agency audits and federal reviews.
Yenny's passion for positive change extends beyond her professional life. As the mother of a child with autism, she has dedicated her career to supporting children with disabilities. Above all, she is a woman of faith, drawing strength and guidance from her beliefs.
This multifaceted experience, combined with a deep personal commitment to DEI, education, mental health, and leadership development, led Yenny, her three co-founders and other supporters to establish the Titan Executive Network. Their vision is to create a powerful network of Black professional C-suite leaders, providing a safe and empowering space for collaboration, networking, and mutual support.
With empathy, kindness, and unwavering faith, Yenny leads effectively, combining a no-nonsense style with a touch of humor.
